The award-winning MARILYN MAYE appeared 76 TIMES ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON — the record for appearances by a singer. Carson famously called her a “SUPER-SINGER.”
STEVE ALLEN presented her multiple times on his national television show, leading to an RCA RECORDING CONTRACT, SEVEN ALBUMS, and 34 SINGLES, including her hit recording of “CABARET.”
Beyond her 76 appearances on Carson, Marilyn performed on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW, THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE, THE JIM NABORS SHOW, and THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW (three appearances).
In 2019 and 2022, she was featured on CBS SUNDAY MORNING with MO ROCCA, and on NBC’S HARRY she performed her classic version of “HERE’S TO LIFE” and was interviewed by HARRY CONNICK JR. Her RCA recording of “TOO LATE NOW” was selected by the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION for its album of the 110 BEST AMERICAN COMPOSITIONS OF THE 20TH CENTURY.
In 2023, her sold-out concert at CARNEGIE HALL’S STERN AUDITORIUM — performed with the NEW YORK POPS ORCHESTRA conducted by STEVEN REINEKE — drew 2,800 attendees, earned 12 STANDING OVATIONS, and received SEVEN RAVE REVIEWS. The event even inspired a proclamation from NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS, declaring MARCH 24, 2023, “MARILYN MAYE DAY.”
Marilyn continues to perform across the United States, appearing regularly in NEW YORK CITY at 54 BELOW, BIRDLAND, and DIZZY’S AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER. She also sells out shows twice a year at THE PURPLE ROOM in Palm Springs, CROONER’S in Minneapolis, and the MIM THEATER in Phoenix, among other venues — proving that the legend of Marilyn Maye still shines as bright as ever.
